SL Carpentry & Construction is a carpentry and building contractor established in Crawley in 2017. We take on full property refurbishments, new kitchens and bathrooms, building and structural works, flooring and insulated garden rooms across West Sussex, Surrey and surrounding areas. Sean trained as a bench joiner, so traditional craft sits alongside modern installation.
Ten trades, one team.

Softwood decking over a new joist frame, cedar slatted screens for privacy, built-in planters, artificial lawn and flagstone patio. Documented start-to-finish.

Before: tired fencing, uneven paving, nowhere to actually sit.
The existing garden was a hotchpotch of ageing lap-panel fencing and broken flags. The brief was simple: a clean, low-maintenance space the family could use all year — room to eat outside, a patch of green for the kids, and proper privacy from neighbours.
After: an outdoor room that runs into winter.
- Cedar slatted fencing on three sides — airflow stays, privacy stays.
- Pressure-treated softwood deck on a level joist frame with hidden fixings.
- Built-in planters in matching cedar, artificial grass for low upkeep.
- Pyramid patio heater and rattan seating zone for evenings.
A few jobs from the last year or two.
Kitchens, bathrooms, decks and everything that holds them together. See more over on Instagram — we post almost daily.

Family trade. Bench-joinery roots.
SL Carpentry & Construction is run by Sean Doyle, who trained as a bench joiner and still does site work himself. The firm was set up in 2017 out of Crawley and has been steadily building a name across Surrey and Sussex ever since.
We do it all — from puttying a single glazed window the old-fashioned way, to tearing out a whole ground floor and starting again. The common thread is proper craft, honest pricing, and a clean site.

Straight answers.
What areas do you cover?
We're based in Crawley and operate across West Sussex, Surrey and the surrounding areas. Send us your postcode with your enquiry and we'll confirm we can cover you.
How long have you been trading?
SL Carpentry & Construction was established in 2017. Sean, who runs the company, has been in the trade for over a decade and trained as a bench joiner, so traditional joinery skills sit alongside modern installation work.
Do you provide quotes before starting?
Always. We come out, look at the job properly, and give a written quote. For larger projects we break down materials and labour so you can see exactly what you're paying for. Quotes are free and there's no obligation.
Are you insured?
Yes — we carry public liability insurance for every job and we only work with trusted sub-trades (plumbers, electricians, tilers) who carry their own.
We post almost every day.
On-the-tools clips, before-and-afters, the odd honest moan about an engineered oak floor laid in contact adhesive. Come and say hello.
